Upon his return from the Trojan War, Agamemnon is murdered by Clytemnestra, his wife, and Aegisthus, her lover. Seven years later, after a long exile, Orestes, Agamemnon's son, returns to Argos. He and his sister, Electra, decide to avenge their father's murder and dethrone the usurper who resigns at Clytemnestra's side. The young woman urges her brother to take their revenge further by killing their mother…

Raymonde Chandebise suspects her husband is being unfaithful. She sets a trap for him by inviting him anonymously to a rendezvous at the Minet-Galant hotel. Mr Chandebise responds to the invitation by sending his faithful friend Tournel, unaware that the hotel porter, Poche, is his lookalike. The hotel subsequently becomes the scene of a gigantic farce where the mechanics of mistaken identities, lies and deception run out of control without anyone able to make it all stop...
